Day 3 - October 2, 2008, Thursday
Bais and Manjuyod Day
We decided to skip breakfast because we had to leave early. Excited. I was up at 4:30 and we were at the bus terminal by 6. When the bus to Bais left the terminal, there were very few passengers. Along the way na kumukuha ng pasahero. Medyo hassle kasi ang daming kalyeng ginagawa. Buti maaga pa so the traffic was not that bad. We ate my baong crackers on the way to Bais. Bus fare was P35/passenger.
We were dropped off near the plaza. They refer to it as a police outpost but I couldn't find the outpost. So mas better na lang na plaza.
We had to take the trike to the Dolphin and Whale Watching Wharf. Di kami magkaintindihan nung mamang tricycle driver. He was speaking to me in Bisaya. I understand some Bisaya but I'm not that good so di ko siya gets. Andrew thinks the manong was telling us na pakyaw papunta dun sa wharf. Due to miscommunication or whatever, we had to take another trike. Sus, mas masakit pala sa ulo 'to si manong. He was demanding P70 when we got to the wharf. Pakyaw daw kasi wala na siyang pasahero pabalik. Lekat. But I remember him calling on to other people before we left the plaza. Grr. I was insisting on paying him the regular rate of P8/person. But since it was too early to argue with anyone, I just decided to give him P50. Pumayag ang tungak. Lugi pa din kami. Sus.
Then malas #2 came. Cendy, our tourist guide, met us and asked us if we already have food. Ay wala. She pointed us to a house, dun na lang daw bumili ng food. Kala ko naman may mga ulam. Nge, sari-sari store lang. I forgot that the Tourism Officer of Bais told me to buy food before we ride the trike. Sus. So yun, we had to live with chichirya like Piattos (?) and Rinbee. Hehe. Kawawa. Nakaka-insecure ang katabi naming bangka na nagpa-ihaw pa. Haha.
We had the boat all to ourselves. We rented the government boat which was good for 15 persons. P3,015.00 ang charge nila from around 7:30 until 3 in the afternoon. They provide you with the captain (heller, alangan namang kami lang. haha) and a tourist guide plus other people who assist the captain. Coolness.
First stop was the Tanon Strait where you'll watch the dolphins. Mga around 40 minutes daw ang biyahe going there. Happiness when we finally got there because the dolphins were all over the place. Nakakatuwa. You can clap or whistle to call their attention. They don't jump that high unlike the trained ones. Pero tumatalon pa rin kaya nakakatuwa. You can't touch or feed them though. Basta they are so cute. We didn't see whales. Although we would not have known the difference anyway. Hehe.
After about an hour of dolphin watching, we proceeded to the Manjuyod White Sandbar. Nice. It's in the middle of a deep sea. Pero siya mababaw lang. You can tell the difference by looking at the color of the water. We were lucky because we were still able to see the sandbar . The other boats that came after us were not as fortunate. High tide na kasi eh. Masarap maligo dun kasi puro buhangin lang. Walang bato. And mababaw lang. Perfect for me. Hehe. Kaya ayun, we had so much fun, nasunog tuloy kami.
We decided to eat our chips around lunch time. Hehe. After a few minutes of siesta, we decided to go back to the Bais Wharf. Gutom na rin kami eh. Hehe.
The water was not as calm on our way back to Bais. Scary. Humahampas talaga sa bangka. Basa-basa tuloy ulit kami.
We were back in Bais by 2 p.m. siguro. We took the trike back to the town proper. We asked Cendy to recommend a good fast food in the area. Felix daw or Won Ka (na nung una akala ko Willy Wonka, hehe). Yung sign ng Felix nakalagay Felix Lechon. Ayaw ni Andrew. So Won Ka na lang. We decided to order pansit para bagong luto at mabilis gawin at madami. Medyo nilalangaw kasi yung naka-display nilang food. But no, may mga insekto yung pansit nila. Not sure kung ipis. Sana hindi. Ending, we only consumed 1/4 of the pansit. We had to bring home the rest. Bibigay sana sa pulubi but since we didn't find any, we ended up throwing it. :(
Finding a bus going back to Dumaguete was a challenge. Sabi ng mga tao sa likod ng palengke. Punta kami dun. We were feeling dugyot so we wanted to ride an aircon bus. Wala raw. Hintay-hintay. Then another person we talked to told us to wait in the highway. Dadaan daw yung mga bus dun. So lipat kaming highway. Aba may isa nanamang miron, sa likod daw talaga ng palengke. Buti may dumating na bus bago kami makalipat ulit. Ceres yung name ng bus. Medyo puno. Challenge din ang pagsakay. The driver won't go into a full stop. Babagalan lang niya para makatalon ka. Pucha. Buti may upuan pa. Masikip nga lang. Bus fare was P45/passenger. Mas mahal kasi mas kilalang bus line siya.
We encountered some traffic on our way out of Bais. Nandun na kami sa part ng mga azucarera. Madami rin kasing ginagawang kalye. May nahulog daw na truck. Sus. After a few minutes (well, mga 30 siguro), umandar na rin finally. Ang alikabok nga lang. Boohoo.
Siyempre liguan as soon as we got to Dumaguete. Kadiri na kami eh. Then it was time to make up for our lousy food day. I wanted to eat inihaw. Nag-crave talaga ko. Comfort food eh. Hehe. Again, we sought the help of Harold. He recommended Mc Neloy's La CaviteƱa.
Good food. Bawing-bawi ang hunger strike namin for the day. Hehe. We ordered grilled squid, kinilaw na blue marlin, and barbecue. Then we had buko juice as in buko pa siya ha. Mura kasi P20/buko lang. The prices of the food are also reasonable. Di ko na nga lang maalala. Basta per 100 grams ang price ng seafoods. Medyo malapit ang prices dun sa mga tinda sa may ilog ng Marikina.
Again, meme time after the bondat meal.
